Welcome to the Town of Tonawanda Aquatic & Fitness Center.  Originally planned to replace the historic Delaware Pool on this same site, the Center was opened in 1991 to much fanfare.

The idea to replace the Delaware Pool was conceived by the late Councilman, and Chairman of the Youth, Parks and Recreation Committee, E. William Miller.  With support from New York State’s Environmental Quality Bond Act and local funding, we were on our way.

Fortunately, during the planning and design process, we learned of Buffalo being the site for the World University Games.  As it turned out they were looking for a venue to host one of the aquatics sports competitions. Original plans were scrapped, and the pool, in particular, was ultimately expanded to the size it is today, to host the Water Polo Competition.  Had we not had the good fortune of the World Games coming to Buffalo, and being chosen as a site for such a competition, the pool would have been half the size it is today.

It stands today as one of the premier facilities that not only residents of the Town of Tonawanda and Village of Kenmore, can enjoy, but people from across the state can enjoy.
