YOUTH BUREAU AND POLICE CLUB BRINGING BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT BACK TO KEN-TON
The Town of Tonawanda Youth Bureau and the Town of Tonawanda Police Club are excited to be hosting a 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament at Kenmore West High School on Saturday, March 4. The tournament, which had formally been run in a 2-on-2 format, was a popular event for many years. "I used to participate in this tournament; it brought out both competitive basketball players and fans and also those just looking to have some fun on a Saturday," said Chris Monaco, Youth Board member and basketball coach.
"With the help of generous sponsors and passionate volunteers, we are able to bring this event back for the youth in Ken-Ton," said Dan Crangle, Councilman and Chairman of the Youth, Parks and Recreation Committee.
Registration is free and can take place in advance at tinyurl.com/ttypr3on3 or on-site on March 4. Youth in grades 7-12 who live in or attend school in the Town of Tonawanda or Village of Kenmore are welcome to participate. There will be both girls and boys divisions. Teams will be made on-site; check-in and registration takes place between 9 and 9:30am. T-shirts, refreshments, and prizes will be provided.
Volunteers are needed to help with refereeing, score keeping, time keeping, announcing, bracket keeping, selling concessions, and managing the check-in/registration table so whether or not you have experience with basketball, we can find a job for you! Volunteers can sign up at tinyurl.com/refs2017.
