Water, Sewer and Utilities
Water and Sewer Systems
The Town of Tonawanda operates and maintains hundreds of miles of water and sewer lines. Each year billions of gallons of water drawn from the Niagara River are treated, distributed, collected and cleaned in order to meet the demands of our residents and to protect our environment. In 1996, a re-organization of the four water-related departments into the Water Resources Department
provided greater efficiency and control of these services.
Gas is supplied by the National Fuel Gas Company, electricity by National Grid. The rates charged by these utilities are established by the Public Service Commission of the State of New York.
Cable service is provided by Time-Warner Cable. Under the terms of our franchise agreement, they completed a entire system upgrade which provides a communications network for entertainment, education and industry.
TV, Internet, and Phone services are also available from Verizon through their fios.verizon.com . FiOS is a 100% pure fiber-optic network that is built on technology that is capable of accommodating expanding technological needs in the future.
