Industry and Community
A Well-Rounded Community
Through careful, foresighted planning, the Town of Tonawanda has developed into a complete, well-rounded community where industry, commerce and residential neighborhoods interact harmoniously for the benefit of all.
Strong and Diverse Economic Base
The economic base of the Town of Tonawanda has been strongly influenced by the location of large industries along its waterfront since the early 1900s. Companies like General Motors were drawn to the town by an abundant supply of water and low-cost power. These facilities attracted investment from many smaller companies which provided a range of supporting services from machine shops to trucking firms. In spite of dramatic changes in the industrial base of the Niagara Region, our large industries have been successful in adapting to the competitive challenges of a global economy.
Real Estate Opportunities
New or expanding companies can take advantage of real estate options ranging from incubator space and multi-tenant buildings to larger freestanding buildings in established industrial parks. New industrial parks are planned for two parcels of 80 acres and 300 acres respectively. Approximate locations of these public and privately held properties are shown on the map.
