The Technical Support Department provides networking, email, internet, MS Active Directory and security support to all town departments. We are responsible for the network infrastructure and a majority of support for various software used by all of the departments. Our responsibilities also include the management of databases, file systems, file security, system configurations, user accounts, websites, backups and access policies and procedures.
The Technical Support Department chairs the town's Technology Committee, which oversees initiatives and advancements in the use of computer systems for the town.
The network infrastructure consists of high bandwidth wireless building-to-building connectivity to 18 town facilities. Each facility then has wired gigabit-managed switches for the local area network. The physical network segment is made up of various VLANs and subnets.
