In years past, the common practice of disposal would be to dump into a landfill. However, through the years, it's been proven that landfills produce a methane gas, which has contributed to vast global warning.

The latest, more environmentally-friendly process the Town of Tonawanda uses is to take the waste to a facility where it is burned and is eventually turned into electricity.
